Dr. Troy R Hutchings Featured Presenter

Troy Hutchings researches, writes and speaks about professional ethics, educator misconduct, and frameworks for an ethical and legal teaching practice. He has been the subject matter expert on a variety of national projects dealing with educator ethics including the Model Code of Ethics for Educators (MCEE) and the National Council for the Advancement of Educator Ethics. In addition, he provides thought-leadership to states, counties, districts and regional service centers as they develop implementation strategies in the area of educator ethics.

He has also been part of the faculty of Concordia University Irvine's Servant Leadership Institute and Educator Leadership Academy for the past several years. His topics include: Professional Ethics: Giving our Profession Permission to have the Difficult Conversation, and Reconsidering Boundaries: The Case for Professional Ethics. In addition he has been part of the Early Childhood Faculty at the University of Hawaii and has spoken on Professional Ethics and Early Childhood Practitioners.

His contributions to the field of professional practices were recognized nationally when he received the 2009 Annual Doug Bates Award and gave the associated lecture. He was also named the 2016 Anna Funk Lockey Annual Endowed Lecturer, joining international education notables Sir Ken Robinson, Theodore Sizer, Albert Shanker, Jonathon Kozel, Diane Ravitch and others who have been honored with this award.

Dr. Hutchings is the Senior Policy Advisor for the National Association for the State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC). He served as a high school teacher, administrator and coach in public and private schooling environments for 16 years, and has a record of full-time teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities at the university level spanning an additional 15 years. In addition, he spent four years conducting research, creating resources and developing thought-leadership capacity in educator ethics for a non-profit educational assessment company.

Pastor Trevor Van Blarcom Worship & Bible Study Leader

Pastor Trevor serves as Associate Pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church, Orange, CA, where he oversees Missions & Outreach Ministry as well as Adult Ministry teams. He has been at St John’s for his whole life and is blessed to serve where he grew up.

Room costs are $139+ p/night.
